Star Wars creator Alan Dean Foster says that Disney instructed him to take away any romantic scenes between Finn and Rey in his novelisation of 2015’s The Drive Awakens.
Foster was recruited by JJ Abrams to write down the official novelisation for the movie, as he did with George Lucas’ authentic movie in 1976, which was printed below Lucas’ title however ghostwritten by Foster.
Talking to Midnight’s Edge, Foster says he put a scene that hinted at a future romance between Daisy Ridley and John Boyega’s characters in his novel, which he anticipated to be expanded upon in 2017’s The Final Jedi.
“There have been a few issues in there, and a few issues that occurred subsequently that bothered me,” he revealed of the method of working with Disney on the novel.
“I’m going to inform you one factor they made me take out as a result of sufficient time has handed, I don’t suppose it issues,” he added.
